I am an artist who creates to express and communicate matters of the heart.
For more than 20 years I have worked in the community as an artist and teacher for organisations such as the Tyne and Wear Museum service, the National Trust, in hospitals and schools.
I have travelled deep into the earth (Kilhope Lead Mining Museum) and have had flags flown from the Newcastle city rooftops (Streltsy Agency’s Exhibition in the Air). As an illustrator I have worked with the finest of paintbrushes (Croak, The King and A Change In The Weather); as a muralist I have painted on ‘canvasses’ 21 metres in length (Refurbishment of Tynemouth Station).
I have enjoyed working with people aged 0-90 sometimes all at once (Monkwearmouth Station Museum All Seasons banners).
My personal work has been widely exhibited in galleries and in the unique venue of a high street shop where the window displays have reflected and celebrated the changing seasons (Escape Boutique, Whitley Bay).
Some of my most recent work has been made for two exhibitions in the Port of Tyne gallery at The Customs House, South Shields. Both ‘Chasing Shadows’ (November 2014- January 2015) and ‘Dreaming of Home’ (March-May 2016) are mixed media work, combining found objects and vintage textiles with my own embroidery, batik and soft sculpture.
Dreams, memories and stories inspire me.
